Fly By Night

Fly by Night is NOT a Rush musical. Ok, now that’s out of the way. It’s a charming show, told in a very unusual way, moving back and forth in time as it revisits events with new context. The show is called a “rock fable” but I wouldn't say anything about the show is rock, more folk/indie inspired. There are a couple fun numbers to play, but it’s a show that’s really the sum of its parts. Speaking of parts, the actual physical parts (books) are a mess…for every instrument. It’s like someone has never learned how to format a score. Collisions, bad spacing, missing bar repeats. Also, it’s not made clear in any description of the materials but the drummer is supposed to play acoustic guitar in one song.
